The School of Rock
(July 2025)
“If you can learn to sing or play an instrument with new friends, you’ll never be bored,” is a Savage Club theme.
The School of Rock is a “Learn It and Do It” camp that teaches any student how to play music with other people. It is a free camp open to all singers, all instruments (from guitars, horns, woodwinds, and strings to egg shakers), and all abilities.
Students will learn basics on how to jam with others, how to form a band, how to choose songs, how to rehearse, and how to perform.
Local musicians and members from the Motown group the X’Plozionz volunteer to provide vocal coaching and instrument clinics on playing guitars, drums, keyboards, and all other instruments.
Students will form small combos and learn one or two songs by the end of the week. Everyone will get an uplifting chance to play.
